Koya is nestled in the hills of Kisami. Just a 3 minute drive (or 20 minute walk) to crystal clear waters of Iritahama beach.

Getting There
Shimoda is located on the spectacular coast of the Izu Peninsula.
Only a 2 hour and 40 minute train journey from Tokyo.

Getting Around
Koya is a 10 minute drive from Izu-Kyu Shimoda Station.
It is recommended that you organise a car rental during your time here.
An alternative would be to use the taxi and bus services which you can access from the train station. The bus journey would entail a steep 15 minute walk from Nyuta bus stop to Koya.
Our Story
Founded in 2025, Koya is the project of Sydney-born producer Jimme Armstrong, conceived as a way to escape the noise and transform it into sound.
Armstrong is an electronic music artist shaped by a lifelong love and immersion in Live and Electronic music.
His projects have included the duo Stereo Thieves and the band Dead Ears, with performances alongside an eclectic range of artists including Mark Pritchard, Carl Craig, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Flying Lotus.
Since relocating to Tokyo in 2017, Armstrong has been regularly DJing and performing live across Tokyo. Beyond the late nights, he has focused on writing, collaborating with Japanese artists, and releasing new music.
More recently, Armstrong has turned his focus to building Koya, a bespoke music cabin nestled in the hills of Kisami, Shizuoka—an evolving creative retreat dedicated to production, collaboration, and experimentation.
